A loft-y goal

When we reimagined the open space upstairs (adjacent to our master suite), we envisioned dreamy wood beams, cozy reading nooks, a place for allll the books, and a quiet sitting area (sans TV of any kind). We still can't get over how well it turned out. Shannon calls it the "lady lair" because I can often be found here, reading, pinning, or just drinking coffee while listening to soft music while my ridiculous electric fireplace warms my footsies juuuuuust right. But occasionally I lure him up here too with a good book, or just a nice snuggle.

new sofa

Our new sofa finally arrived, and it's a cream, cozy dream. When I look back at photos of my early attempts at home decor and design, I cringe a little (ALL the things, ALL the colors!). But seeing this in our more thoughtfully curated space makes me realize how far we've come (less is more), and makes my design-loving heart so happy.

a family affair

I am slightly obsessed with these oversized photo strip prints from SPS - see https://www.socialprintstudio.com/giant-photostrips/ to shop. I've gotten a few as gifts, but finally ordered us a couple for the wall opposite the railing up in the loft. On the left are some vintage Wheatley photos and on the right some great Cooper family shots (my Mom's side of the family). I just love how they turned out. Shannon painted some trim pieces for me and we just tacked them up like so.

New chandelier in dining room

We've struggled with lighting this space, because the natural light in here is so variable. But the one-light fixture we've had here for the past few years wasn't cutting it, so when we found this gem, we went for it and so far we're loving it!

Holiday Home Tour

It's our favorite time of year again, and we've been busy decking the hall of our little home. We usually wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to start putting out the Christmas decor, but this year we needed a little bit of holiday cheer earlier than usual and we went for it. Like the weekend after Annual Meeting went for it. #noregerts

Now that most of our renovation work is done, we took Christmas all over this place. We still have some trim (OK, and doors) to paint, but we are living in every inch of our little cottage and loving it. At some point we need to address the (awful) stairs going up to the second level, and we have longer term plans to man cave (and wine cave) the basement. But, we have GRASS out back, and candles burning, and hot cups of tea in hand, and we're happy to just nest for awhile now.

So here's how we're holidaying #wheatleystyle this year:
